Don't take our word for it - what do 7SIM Graduates have to say?

A. Testimonials on the Application of 7SIM in the Workplace

I've used 7SIM in a variety of places for a variety of jobs.  Its structure allows even those new to change management to become organised and focussed.  The templates ensure you capture the most important information you will need throughout the process and records are then available.  I've used 7SIM to:

  • As a whole: to identify the burning issues in an organisation, with 7SIM allowing me to prioritise the issues, develop the scopes of work and move quickly through the phases.  I find that if we break down the significant issues to manageable portions it’s easier for most organisations to cope with the change and with the resources needed to do the change project as most organisations are stretched to their limits.
  • As 7SIM separable portions.  There have been instances where I’ve just used the IP process or root cause analysis or measures/analysis for individual tasks.  The tools are transportable and simple and quite happily can stand alone.”

7SIM makes the management and carriage of change management easier for the novice.  For the experienced change managers, it allows you to focus on the complex and large change projects without having to create the tools to undertake the work so your attention is on your people and the change.  I love 7SIM.

I did 7SIM training very early on in my career.  It has been one training course which I have walked away with real tangible skills and knowledge in which I could apply immediately to my work and workplace.  It has fundamentally changed they way I work and the way I run my projects.  It provided me with a toolbox and skills which I still draw on and refer to today.  The methodology taught within 7SIM is transferable across organisations and industries.  This is a highly recommended course.

7SIM has increased my confidence in managing projects with stakeholders. I have regularly applied the tool with great success, and as a project manager in a new business area it has provided me with a structured, practical and easy to use method for scoping projects and managing the resolution of problems to gain buy-in and acceptance of new proposals.

I have been working with the Project Scoping Documents looking at two areas of our business, specifically our interactions with our customers/community. This is part of a review of our Strategic Intent following a workshop in late April this year. Working parties addressing a range of areas identified through the 7SIM process have been set up to review, develop and enhance a series of areas identified as key to our business and requiring a focus from all levels within the business. This process is not new to staff at North East Water as we have a history of using the 7SIM process across a range of tasks and processes in the business to better capture and utilise knowledge within the business.

Our business has been able to improve processes, highlight and take appropriate action to improve efficiencies within the various business units of North East Water and validate how we conduct our business in certain areas by utilising the 7SIM processes. It has proven itself to be a valuable tool in our business.

I would like to thank you for extending an invitation for myself and my staff at ACC International to attend the 7SIM Course.  Since graduating from the course we have used many of the principles to evaluate and improve our processes to the point where using the 7SIM improvement program we have been able to become an organisation which is now setting many benchmarks in our industry.  The 7SIM training really gave us a good foundation to work from.  Without the 7SIM program I believe that the process of bringing much needed change to our organisation would have been much more time and resource consuming and definitely less effective.

I have been successfully using the 7SIM methodology, within the Utilities Industry, over the past 8 years.  The major reason for the success of the methodology is the ease-of-use provided by the prescribed tool set and the inclusive nature of the approach.  The tool set has provided a structured yet simple approach towards process mapping, issue recognition and arriving at a consensus within a large group both as an integral part of the methodology and in addressing stand alone issues.  The inclusive nature of the methodology moves the team quickly into an ownership of the initiative and enhances any change management by developing the team members to change agents within the organisation.  I would strongly recommend the 7SIM methodology as a means towards improving process in any organisation.  Equally, I would strongly endorse the use of the supporting tool-set as an appropriate approach in addressing isolated business challenges.

B. Testimonials of the 7SIM Training Experience

I came to 7SIM needing to learn some ways of transforming strategic initiatives into real actions for front line staff.   CALM succeeded spectacularly in equipping me in that regard.

What a great training event! I am excited, challenged and inspired!  In the last twelve months I have been given a lot more responsibility in my position and consequently I feel ill-equipped. I have been contemplating starting an MBA or similar to get some extra skills. 7SIM is an excellent alternative to starting something so huge at this point.  The length of the course means I can not only learn practical tools but start putting then into practice immediately, which hopefully will assist us as an organisation in making significant improvements to business.

Many thanks for the really rich opportunity you are providing me with via the 7SIM training. I really love the flexibility of the online learning. I am able to find spaces that suit my working week to learn and refresh my learning.

The ability to apply  7SIM is available right from the start. I have found this to be a really important aspect of my learning. It has kept me engaged because I have been able to see its relevance to my experiences and responsibilities (personal and professional) immediately.    I have also found that the very positive and 'can do' nature of Dan in his presentations is helpful for me. The concise summaries by Dan, along with the encouragement to reflect and act on the most recent learning, are helpful and encouraging.

Two aspects of the training package were particularly useful learning tools. Firstly, the ‘just in time reminders’ are fantastic. Knowing I can go back and specifically refresh my understanding about a specific step is great. I also love the ‘Boost your 7SIM experience’. It is a great strategy to clarify and space learning so that it can really gel.

I have also found that the content of 7SIM® Business Improvement online training is very clearly laid out. The use of logos and colours is immensely helpful. It is tremendous for identifying where we are heading, as well as referring back to resources or key points. It was very easy to navigate around the learning modules.

The operational definitions in the Project Scoping Tool Guide are also really helpful. These terms are often bandied around leadership and management, and sometimes we lack clarity about what they actually mean. I thought putting them in the Tool Guide was useful and educational.

The length of each video teaching segment seems spot on, enough to provide good info, but not too long that I might be tempted to switch off.

C. The View on 7SIM Founder Dan Jackson

I have known Dan Jackson for many years. I initially worked with him whilst we were both serving in the Defence Forces and I was very impressed with his ability to define strategy and drive change management in practical ways. He has since trained me in the 7SIM business improvement framework.  As a fellow business consultant I find his skills in the area of business improvement to be extremely relevant and well grounded.  He has extensive experience in leading improvement projects that deliver big benefits.  He has taught me that success is only achieved through cultural alignment at all levels of an organisation.  With 7SIM, Dan has developed a framework that taps into grounded research on successful improvement that can be applied in a more practical manner than any other framework I know.

It has been my good fortune to know, work with and be mentored by Dan over the past eight years. I have great pleasure in recommending him as a first class executive coach.  Dan brings a rare and insightful talent to bear in his coaching. He is also the finest workshop facilitator I have come across and can "work a room" like no other.  His clever "7SIM" thinking combined with a highly developed EQ and pleasant personality covers all the bases.  I wish him well in his endeavours and congratulate any company lucky enough to secure his services.

Duncan Whitfield, Project Director Adelaide Aqua (Desalination Plant)

In rating his influence to help bring about positive change to the work environment, Dan Jackson’s top 4 clients scored him an average of 9.5 out of 10.

Rhodam Consulting concluded, “This is a very important question because the ultimate aim of Dan's work is to influence for positive change within his client’s work environment.  This is a very strong result, representing almost a perfect score.  It is clear from the results that Dan’s clients rate him as a very positive influence in creating change."

The people were well engaged and the workshop achieved its desired outcome. Since the workshop, there seems to be notable improvements in people working more effectively together which I attribute to the workshop. Dan's workshop design and facilitation was brilliant and the content "spot on"!  Dan is engaging and well organised. He puts effort into getting to know the team and has an impressive selection of approaches to bring out creative discussion to meet the workshop objectives.
